Education & Learning in the Glenkens

The Glenkens and District Community Action Plan Steering Group is pleased to announce a significant event focused on the future of education and lifelong learning in remote-rural Scotland.

The event will take place on Thursday 11th July from 6:30pm at the CatStrand in New Galloway. This event is open to all and free, but free tickets must be booked at https://gcat.scot/arts/ to assure a place.

The evening will feature two panels of distinguished speakers who will first explore the requirement for industry skills tailored to modern rural living and then innovative models of education. This is an opportunity for Glenkens residents and regional stakeholders to be inspired and engaged in how we could do things differently.

Event Highlights:

  • Panel Discussions

    • Industry and Workplace Skills Panel: What the Glenkens is going to need in its skilled workforces in the years and decades ahead.

    • Education Panel: Insights from experts on educational models suitable for remote-rural areas.

  • An update on the Glenkens and District Trust-commissioned research into innovative education models.

  • Showcase of successful local Learning Initiatives currently thriving in the Glenkens.

  • Q&A from the audience after the panel presentations.
