“Welcome to the Glenkens. Whether you’re turning these pages from a city flat, a suburban home, or a countryside cottage, we invite you to slow down, take a breath, and see what life looks like from here... “

Life and Land in the Glenkens was commissioned to reflect and amplify voices within our communities, through case studies and a fresh look at life in the Glenkens from a local young journalist.

From the breathtaking beauty and biodiversity of our natural surroundings to the warmth of human connections, this publication shines a light on what makes our community truly special, celebrates our shared history, acknowledges our struggles, and looks toward the future.

It also invite questions: How can we continue to celebrate what makes our community unique while addressing the challenges we face? How can we ensure that the land that we are living on allows communities, wildlife and local economies to thrive?

The project was funded by NatureScot, and commissioned by Glenkens Community and Arts Trust (GCAT). It was supported by the Glenkens Gazette and Glenkens Hub also both GCAT projects.
